Earl Shilton 1st XI vs.
Jason Gillespie Academy U19 Australian XI

After last year's excellent day we are delighted to welcome back the Jason Gillespie Academy's U19 touring team for another fixture against our 1st XI. Everyone welcome - there will be BBQ!

Last Week's Games

It was a mixed weekend with the 1st XI getting a winning draw with a strong performance, but the 2nd XI losing heavily. The Sunday XI won.

The 1st XI travelled to Kibworth where, on being asked to bat, they put on 214 for 8 in their 45 overs, the highlight being opener Pav Singh's 62. In reply Kibworth scored 191-9, but having got the 9th wicket in the 38th over, we were unable to take that final wicket which would have given us the outright win. Pick of the bowlers were Tom Verow and Josh Stock, who each took 3 wickets, and a fine debut by Mo Rahim, who took 2-26 from his 12 overs.

The 2nd XI hosted Asian Sports who batted first. We started well, but after reducing them to 94 for 7, were unable to press home our advantage and Asian Sports finished on 223 for 8. We were not helped by losing Ellis Simons to a back injury after he'd bowled 5 excellent overs. In reply we again struggled badly with the bat, being all out for 61

Junior Hardball Training

Tuesdays 6pm-7pm
starting 20th June

We are excited to be relaunching our junior hardball section after a gap of a couple of years. This is open to any young person who would like to take up or further develop their interest in cricket. Sessions will cost £2 per player and will be led by Liam Phillips. Liam is our 1st team wicket keeper and completed a degree in sports coaching last summer. He is a level 2 coach, and last year was the ECB's Worcestershire Young Coach of the Year - so he brings both enthusiasm and expertise to the role.

Depending on numbers and the age range, we hope to arrange friendly fixtures against local clubs during the latter part of this season before formally entering teams in the Leicestershire Youth Cricket League next year.

Welcome to Earl Shilton Town Cricket Club!

Our senior section runs three teams -
1st XI - in the First Division of the Leicestershire and Rutland Cricket League
2nd XI - in Division 5 West of the Leicestershire and Rutland Cricket League
Sunday Friendly XI - plays 40 over friendlies against local teams on a Sunday afternoon
Our seniors train on a Tuesday evening from 6pm-8pm

We are currently rebuilding our Junior Section, and run teams at the younger end of the age range -
U11 Incrediball - train with the Kwik Cricketers on a Wednesday evening from 5pm-6pm and play matches on Friday evenings
Kwik Cricket (for junior school aged children) - train with the U11 Incrediball Cricketers on a Wednesday evening from 5pm-6pm and play matches on Friday evenings

We are now relaunching our Junior Hardball section for 12-17 year olds which will take place on Tuesday's evenings from 6pm-7pm under the coaching of Liam Phillips

We are always happy to see new players - junior or senior - and would love to see you.
